RosieQueen Latifah was born Dana Elaine Owens on March 18, 1970, in Newark, New Jersey. Latifah was the second child born to Lance and Rita Owens. She is most famous for her social activistism, acting talents, and her ability to rhyme. A Muslim cousin has given Latifah the name "delicate, sensitive" at the age of eight years old. Latifah sang in the Shiloh Baptist Church's Choir located in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Her debut public performance in which she sang "Home" as one of the two Dorothys in the production of The Wizard of Oz. Latifah's mom was a major influencer and she kept in touch with the students as well as the music. Mark James, the local disc jockey was invited by Latifah to sing during the dance. Mark the 45 King was invited to perform at a school dance.
