The shadows she saw on the lawn inspired her to spend months developing a technique, which however, did not paint the chosen object on canvas. When objects live or perishable like humans and fruits, they become a painting of themselves. The style that Alexa Meade paints has an ephemeral quality, and the only thing that remains of Alexa Meade is her photograph. Photography and painting are tightly coordinated to create an unflattering two-dimensional space that is a trompe l'oeil. At certain locations, the third dimensions can be seen, for example, around the eye or on the hair. Meade occasionally integrates painted models into the environment around them. It allows them to be part of the world the artist has constructed. The distinctions between performance installation, photography and painting is thus broken.
